The Boys Season 5: Release Date, Cast News, and Everything We Know About the Final Showdown.

wait is nearly over. After years of blood, satire, and jaw-dropping cliffhangers, the final chapter of Prime Video’s anti-superhero epic is finally here. The Boys Season 5 isn't just another season—it’s the endgame.

If you’re wondering when to clear your schedule or who’s surviving the opening credits, here is everything you need to know about the show’s explosive final run.

The Release Date: When Does It Drop?

Prime Video has officially confirmed that The Boys Season 5 will premiere on April 8, 2026.

Unlike previous years where we got a three-episode binge at the start, this season will kick off with a two-episode premiere. From there, it will follow a weekly release schedule leading up to the series finale on May 20, 2026.

Episode Schedule

  • Episodes 1 & 2: April 8
  • Episode 3: April 15
  • Episode 4: April 22
  • Episode 5: April 29
  • Episode 6: May 6
  • Episode 7: May 13
  • Episode 8 (Series Finale): May 20

The Cast: Familiar Faces and a 'Supernatural' Reunion

The gang is back, but the stakes have never been higher. Karl Urban (Butcher) and Antony Starr (Homelander) return for their final confrontation. Joining them are series regulars Jack Quaid, Erin Moriarty, and Karen Fukuhara.

The biggest buzz, however, surrounds the newcomers and returnees:

  • Soldier Boy is Back: Jensen Ackles returns as a series regular, likely seeking vengeance after his Season 4 finale tease.
  • The Supernatural Reunion: In a dream move for fans, Jared Padalecki joins the cast in an undisclosed role, finally reuniting with Ackles and showrunner Eric Kripke.
  • New Blood: Daveed Diggs (Hamilton) joins the fray, alongside Mason Dye as the supe "Bombsight."

The Plot: "It’s Kill or Be Killed"

Season 4 left us in a dark place: Homelander has effectively seized control of the White House, martial law is in effect, and most of The Boys—Hughie, MM, and Frenchie—are imprisoned in "Freedom Camps."

The Season 5 logline teases a world subject to Homelander’s egomaniacal whims. However, a reappearing Butcher, armed with a supe-shredding virus, is ready to burn it all down. Showrunner Eric Kripke has warned fans to expect "lots of death," noting that since it’s the final season, "no one is safe."
